Marriage is a gift of God. All who invite God into the heart of their marriage will be richly blessed as you enter this gift of marriage according to God’s wise and wonderful plan. Marriage is intended by God to be the most sacred and intimate relationship between a man and a woman, a reflection of God’s relationship with His people through His Son, Jesus Christ. Marriage has potential for both joy and misery. We want to do everything possible to assist you in beginning a marriage that will be one of lifelong fruitfulness and growth together. We require four meetings over at least four months in preparation for your marriage.  Please call the Church Office to request a Wedding Application.  After we receive your application, Pastor David will call you to set up Pre-Marital Preparation sessions, and we'll reserve dates for your ceremony.

“Seeking to know and grow in Christ together”.
through
God‟s Word, prayer and our worship of God,
fellowship and our shared life together,
and through evangelism, service and outreach
creatively bringing Christ‟s message of hope
to our community and world.

Purpose of Weddings at Community Presbyterian Church
Marriage is a gift, created by God, blessed by Jesus Christ as a covenant
lifelong relationship between a man and a woman. The covenant of marriage
includes sacred vows that express a couple‟s commitment before God and
witnesses to love one another and be faithful to one another for life. Community
Presbyterian Church welcomes all who seek to enter the covenant of marriage as
defined by Holy Scripture and ordered by God.

Biblical View of Marriage

    1. Marriage is designed by God.
“The LORD God said, „ It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.‟ Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.”
      Genesis 2:18,22

    2. Marriage is a lifelong covenant commitment.
“The LORD is acting as the witness between you and the wife of your youth…She is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant.”
      Malachi 2:14

“Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
      Matthew 19:6

“By law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if yer husband dies, she is released from the law of marriage. So then, if she marries another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress.”
      Romans 7:2-3

    3. Marriage is an intimate union of body, heart and spirit.
“For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. The man and his wife were both naked and they felt no shame.”
      Genesis 2:24-25

“Has not the LORD made them one? In flesh and spirit they are his. And why one? Because he was seeking godly offspring. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith with the wife of your youth.”
      Malachi 2:15-16

“The wife‟s body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband‟s body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife.”
      I Corinthians 7:4

      Purpose/Mission/Biblical Views: Community Presbyterian
“Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?”
      II Corinthians 6:14

    4. Marriage is a union of mutual love and faithfulness.
“Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”
      Ephesians 5:21

      “Serve one another in love.”
      Galatians 5:13

“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for one another.”
      I John 3:16

“Therefore, as God‟s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”
      Colossians 3:12-14

“Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.”
      Hebrews 13:4
